Fruit Cocktail Cake

Fruit Cocktail Cake has been around a LONG time! In fact fruit cocktail itself was invented in 1930 by a man named Gray. In 1938 Del Monte started to sell it. My grandma used to make this recipe, then my mom. Mom has been gone a long time, but every once in awhile I get out this old recipe and make it. It's just delish with some fresh whipped cream on top. Most of us prolly have the simple ingredients in our pantry already!

 Fruit Cocktail Cake

 3/4 c. sugar

1 c. All purpose white flour

 1 tsp. baking soda

 1/2 tsp. salt

 1 egg, beaten

14 oz. can fruit cocktail with juice

 1 tsp. vanilla

Mix well and pour into a greased 8"pan.

 Mix and top with:

 1/4 c. brown sugar

 1/4. tsp. cinnamon

 1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Bake at 325 for 30-40 minutes.
